The ability to respond

Through its learning centers, Timbuktu in the Valley offers a safe space for hundreds of young people from the community to be themselves, develop, try out something new or continue something old, learn, try, stumble, fall, get up again and try again.

Sometimes, we encounter families for whom life and its circumstances have become overwhelming. Then, we assist in different forms outside of providing a day-time space for the young people.

In cooperation with parents in distress, we have taken several young people into our care. As we have come to understand that, cases of extreme neglect, abuse or violence, combined with authorities that systematically exclude undocumented people from their services, we have to intervene in order to ensure a child’s safety.
